Virtual Sketchbook - Natural Landscape

The Visual Arts Resources have been developed by Customs House Cultural Development and The Gallery and education resource specialist Shoofly Publishing. They are designed to increase interest among young people in art and design and help develop key skills. This resource is suitable for ages six and above.

The Natural Landscape resource, which explores the use of sketch books to collect and record visual information and communicate ideas, encourages students to explore composition and perspective by developing their own landscape pictures using photography or paint.

This resource can be used to support learning and teaching in Art and Design at KS2.  ‘Virtual Sketchbook: Natural Landscape’ has been designed for non-specialist Primary School teachers to support the teaching of composition and perspective - a fundamental component of basic drawing and painting. Schools can use this resource to support National Curriculum Schemes of Work Unit 6C: A sense of place (Year 5/6). The resource has also been designed for use with the Interactive Whiteboard.

The resource includes:

  • Virtual Sketchbook
  • Image Bank
  • Word Bank
  • Teacher Notes
  • Whiteboard Activities

In this resource young people will:

  • Explore and develop ideas of landscape through composition
  • Explore and developing ideas of landscape using perspective
